Role Overview

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of designing and implementing a robust, secure, and efficient platform by leading critical infrastructure initiatives and supporting backend development. You will help drive operational excellence while ensuring that our systems are scalable, resilient, and compliant with the highest security standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Excellence: Maintain and improve operational processes for the live platform to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and rapid issue resolution.
  • Infrastructure Provisioning: Efficiently manage and provision infrastructure resources, guaranteeing scalability and reliability.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure all infrastructure and deployments adhere to security best practices and meet regulatory standards.
  • Solution Design and Implementation: Architect and implement end-to-end solutions, encompassing database design and service creation with a focus on scalability, security, and resilience.
  • Backend Development: Engage in backend development activities, contributing to robust service creation and overall platform stability.

What We Look For

Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure design and implementation.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills using NodeJs, Python, JavaScript, and Bash/Shell.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) with a preference for AWS.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud-native architectures, microservices, containerisation, and serverless computing, including hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with logging tools (such as Loki, Splunk) and monitoring tools (such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog).
  • Comprehensive understanding of networking and security principles.

Qualifications

  • Required Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure design and implementation.

Bonus Points:

  • 1-2 years of experience at a renowned software company, ideally with involvement in building text editors, online whiteboards, content management systems, or creator/developer tools.
  • Experience with real-time, multi-user collaboration tools.
  • Open source contributions to infrastructure/devops tools.
  • A background in a company that values design craft.
  • Previous experience in a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role in a growth-stage company.
