About Openhouse:
Why We Exist:
Navigating modern parenthood is challenging, particularly for career-driven millennials eager to enrich their children's educational experiences. Traditional schools often focus on rote learning and standardized tests, neglecting personal growth and creativity. At Openhouse, we bridge this gap, providing an environment where children can explore their passions, spark their curiosity, and develop essential life skills.
What We Do:
We operate 12 learning hubs across Bangalore and Kolkata, each offering specialized preschool and afterschool programs. Our hubs are appreciated due to their engaging environments, dedicated educators, and constantly evolving learning experience design.
Who We Are:
Founded by Stanford alumni and headquartered in Bangalore, Openhouse is fueled by a commitment to reinvent early education. Our team's background spans institutions like Harvard, MIT, IIT, and ISB, and companies like and Truecaller. We're supported by leading investors like Accel, Matrix, and GSV.
About the Role:
As the Centre Coordinator, you are a key leader, blending the strategic insight of a business manager with the nurturing approach of an educator. Your role involves driving revenue growth, creating a hospitable and conducive learning environment, and ensuring high student retention.
1. Member Experience and Retention
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure they take complete ownership of student retention
- Help in providing stellar in-centre experience by having learning centric conversations with parents
2. New Student Admission
- Maintain and ensure a superior trial class/centre tour experience, both in terms of quality and overall interaction
- Help parents with counselling and guidance with respect to their child's needs and current levels
- Pass over all parent expectations from parent to teacher
3. Overall Centre Growth
- Help oversee daily operations, ensuring a conducive and safe learning environment
- Help drive centre growth through P&L accountability, optimising centre inventory, and local neighbourhood marketing initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate:
Persona:
If you are someone who loves children, loves interacting with parents, is invested in building a career working with young minds, then this role is for you. Our Centre Coordinators are great communicators, love playing and spending time with children and are genuinely invested in shaping the future generations.
Experience:
A minimum of four years experience as hospitality, teaching or customer experience role preferably in the education space.
Leadership:
If you can lead by example, set a vision and motivate your team to work towards it
Aayoshi, the Centre Coordinator at our Sarjapur centre managed to drive student retention by setting up regular meetings between parents and teachers. She helped each teacher prepare for these meetings, focusing on what each child needed and how to solve any problems they were facing. Her efforts led to more personalised support for the students and better communication with parents.
Teamwork:
The prowess to synergize a team for a combined goal.
Take the case of Hari, Centre Coordinator at our JP Nagar Centre. One busy Saturday, we had an unexpected influx of over 10 new families walking in. Hari quickly organised the team, assigning specific roles to each member to ensure every parent was attended to. He guided team members to handle initial greetings, basic queries and program explanations. Hari's quick thinking and ability to mobilise the team ensured that no parent was overlooked and each one left with a thorough understanding of our programs. His actions that day were a perfect example of teamwork in action, effectively managing a sudden high-volume situation without compromising on service quality.
Problem Solving:
You have a keen ability to anticipate challenges, even before they become apparent.
Take the case of Nidhi, our Centre Coordinator at the Sadashivanagar Centre. The public speaking teacher mentioned that one of her students was struggling with focus. Nidhi quickly set up a meeting with the student's parents and suggested enrolling the child in our chess program to improve concentration. The solution worked wonders — the student's focus improved in both public speaking and chess. Seeing this success, Nidhi proactively began assessing other students who might benefit from similar cross-enrollment. Her initiative led to more students enjoying a well-rounded skill development journey at Openhouse, showcasing her exceptional problem-solving skills.
Building Relationships:
More than just children and parents, for us, it's about building a community.
The Centre Coordinator at our Indiranagar Centre once received feedback from a parent considering withdrawing their child from the Dance program. Instead of accepting the decision, Rouhan arranged a meeting. He listened to their concerns, provided insights into the program's benefits, and clearly communicated the child's current progress to the parents with the help of the progress tracker that was maintained by the teacher. The outcome? The student remained enrolled and went on to perform a solo in the next showcase.
Tech Skills:
We don't just use technology; we let it guide us towards the right path.
Bishal, at the Salt Lake centre, is known for his data-driven strategies. Using our advanced analytics platform, he precisely identified students at risk of unenrolling. With targeted interventions, from personalised feedback sessions to tailored learning experiences, he managed to retain 90% of those flagged students in the next enrollment cycle.
