Job Description:
A purchase officer is responsible for sourcing and buying goods and materials for a company, negotiating with suppliers to get the best prices and terms, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products. Key duties include vendor research and evaluation, creating purchase orders, managing inventory and stock levels, and maintaining good supplier relationships. 
 
Core responsibilities
  • Sourcing and negotiation: Research potential suppliers, evaluate their offers, and negotiate contracts to secure the best possible prices and terms for goods and services.
  • Purchasing and ordering: Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring they are accurate and placed in a timely manner.
  • Inventory and quality control: Monitor stock levels, inspect incoming inventory to ensure quality, and arrange for reorders when necessary.
  • Supplier relationship management: Develop and maintain positive, long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Record keeping: Maintain detailed records of all purchasing activities, including orders, shipments, invoices, and stock levels.
  • Collaboration: Work with other departments and teams to understand their purchasing needs and align procurement with overall business goals.
  • Problem-solving: Address any issues related to delivery, quality, or supplier performance.
