Role & responsibilities

Job Summary: The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production floor in a medical device manufacturing environment. The role involves managing a team of production operators, ensuring that production targets are met in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and regulatory compliance. This position requires a solid understanding of medical device manufacturing processes, industry regulations (such as ISO 13485, FDA regulations), and lean manufacturing principles.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise production activities, in shifts, to ensure production process runs efficiently.
  • Ensure production schedules are adhered to and adjust workflows when necessary to meet production / service output deadlines. Monitor shift / daily production output, troubleshoot production-related problems and implement effective solutions quickly. Escalate 4M related gaps to Production Manager.
  • Supervise a team of production operators, providing guidance and motivation to ensure high productivity and engagement, assign tasks to team members according to skills and production needs.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to staff, recognizing good performance and addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Ensure that all products are manufactured in compliance with established quality standards & regulatory requirements viz. FDA, ISO 13485 and other relevant medical device regulations.
  • Enforce a strong commitment to safety by ensuring adherence to company EHS policy and relevant safety regulations, to maintain a safe and clean working environment by ensuring the team uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows safety procedures.
  • Implement lean manufacturing & continuous improvement initiatives viz. root cause analysis, problem solving etc. to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) viz. OEE, DPM, Yield, Productivity etc. to identify areas for improvement in productivity and quality, maintain accurate production records, production logs etc.
  • Foster good communication between production, quality control, maintenance, and other departments to ensure smooth operations. Participate in meetings to discuss production goals, challenges etc.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills with excellent communication
  • Solid understanding of production processes, machinery, and maintenance protocols.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient in using ERP systems viz. SAP and other production management tools.
  • Ability to solve problems, think critically, and make decisions quickly.
  • Knowledge on TPM deployment & Lean tools 5S, Kaizen, Poka Yoke, TIMWOOD etc.
