An Assistant Manager Quality for automotive, aerospace parts is responsible for overseeing quality operations, maintaining compliance with rigorous standards (IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 9001), and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing and process controls for high-reliability components.

Core Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance: Oversee daily quality control operations and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Audit & Inspections: Face internal audits, customer audits, product inspections, and conduct supplier audits; ensure all finished goods and processes meet regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Documentation: Prepare inspection plans, reports, PFMEA, SOPs, Control Plans, and maintain up-to-date quality documentation for audits and certifications (IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Problem Solving: Lead root cause analysis (8D, Why-Why), corrective/preventive action implementation, and resolution of customer complaints.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and train quality inspectors, mentor junior staff, and coordinate cross-functional quality initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify trends through data analysis, drive process improvements, and monitor key quality metrics (scrap, rework, rejection, etc.) & Prepare action plan on the same.

Industry-Specific Duties

  • Prepare QAP as per the standard requirements and adherence of the same.
  • Prepare & maintain detailed documentation including inspection reports, test data, non-conformance reports and other relevant data.
  • Ensure compliance with all standards IATF 16949, AS9100D, ISO9001 and company policies.
  • Document any quality concerns or deviations and ensure they are addressed promptly.
  • Perform product inspections at various stages of the manufacturing process.
  • Provide training and guidance to the production and quality teams on the quality standards, trouble shooting and CAPA processes.
  • Ensure teams are updated with latest industry best practices and quality control techniques.
  • Adress customer complaints, submit 8D report with RCA and feedback regarding product quality and ensure timely resolutions.
  • Implement corrective actions based on customer feedback to improve quality.
  • Update control plan, PFMEA as per the corrective actions taken on the issue.
  • Conduct Raw material testing, Microscopic, Metallographic tests, COC submission, Ultrasonic testing, Dye penetrant test, MPI test and maintain the traceability documents batchwise.
  • Perform First article inspection
  • Maintain all the rejections, rework in ERP software.
  • Oversee quality of parts including critical inspection and testing's

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Mechanical engineering
  • 3–5 years' experience in a similar quality assurance role for automotive, aerospace, or defence parts.
  • Expertise in industry standards (IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Experience in PFMEA, 8D, RCA, SPC, control plan development, Customer complaint handling and supplier quality management.
  • Proficiency in using precision measurement instruments (VMS, profile projector, Hardness Tester, 2D height gauge), statistical analysis tools, and ERP software.
