We are hiring a Senior Staff Backend Engineer – Marketplace for our client (Code Name: SORIN), a global leader in cloud-native observability platforms with AIOps capabilities.

In this high-impact role, you will architect, scale, and optimize backend services for the SORIN Marketplace — enabling transaction workflows, license provisioning, billing integrations, and future third-party commerce features. You'll be a key technical leader in a small, focused team (4–5 engineers), providing architectural guidance, mentoring teammates, and contributing hands-on code to shape the future of a high-scale enterprise marketplace.

The Marketplace initiative is one of SORIN's strategic bets, enabling self-service commerce, subscription flows, and third-party integrations directly into their observability ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

System Architecture & Design

● Lead the design of robust, scalable backend services supporting commerce workflows: transactions, billing, SKUs, and partner integrations.

● Drive adoption of distributed systems patterns including microservices, asynchronous workflows, and event-driven design.

● Collaborate with the Senior Engineering Manager and Product team to align backend design with business priorities.

Hands-on Development

● Write and review high-quality, production-grade code in Kotlin and/or Go.

● Refactor and optimize systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.

● Implement advanced observability features (metrics, logging, tracing) for production readiness.

Marketplace & E-commerce Enablement

● Architect secure, efficient payment workflows; integrate with Stripe or similar gateways.

● Implement workflows for customer license provisioning, entitlement management, and usage-based billing.

● Ensure compliance with PCI DSS and industry security standards for handling financial data.

Scalability & Reliability

● Design fault-tolerant services capable of supporting high-volume global transactions.

● Implement horizontal scaling, load balancing, and resilience strategies across AWS/Azure.

● Leverage Kubernetes and Terraform for efficient infrastructure provisioning and CI/CD automation.

Technical Leadership & Mentoring

● Provide guidance to mid-level and senior engineers; conduct design and code reviews.

● Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, UX, QA, Infrastructure) to drive roadmap initiatives.

● Foster a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and ownership.

Required Skills & Experience

● 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong proficiency in Kotlin or Go (Java considered).

● Proven track record building large-scale distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.

● Expertise in cloud-native platforms (AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, service mesh).

● Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, real-time data pipelines, and asynchronous workflows.

● Familiarity with payment platforms (Stripe, PayPal) and secure transaction processing.

● Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.

● Excellent collaboration skills and ability to influence cross-functional decisions.

● Strong mentoring and leadership capability.

Preferred Qualifications

● Prior experience building marketplace commerce platforms or partner-facing APIs.

● Familiarity with AIOps and observability stacks (metrics, tracing, monitoring).

● Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).

● Knowledge of compliance and security frameworks (IAM, secrets management, PCI).

● Thought leadership through open-source contributions or technical blogs.

You will be hired directly by the client (Code Name: SORIN) and will be part of their India engineering team.
