Job Purpose: Head of Section - Stevedoring is responsible for managing the discharge and loading of cargo from and onto ships, ensuring that operations are conducted efficiently and in line with port operation benchmarks.

Key Accountabilities

• Prepare & Review operations plan by collecting vessel details/ stowage plan/ sequence from vessel agents and cargo handling terms from marketing
• Ensure availability of shore cranes, equipment and stevedoring gangs as per plan and allocate them in coordination with commodity manager and manager equipment
• Coordinate with Shippers/ receivers/ clients/commodity managers/marketing/planning and allocation for smooth cargo operation 
• Review vessel wise resource utilization (Manpower, shore cranes, equipment usage) 
• Allocate stevedore/ surveyor.
• Complete all pre/post documentation of all vessels
• Verify bills submitted by contractors to documentation before certification for work done
• Coordinating with Port Control, Agents & Surveyors for vessel berthing & cast off
• Co-ordinating with mooring team for berthing & cast-off related activities  
• Coordinating with Master / Chief Officer for Discharge Sequence Planning as per requirements 
• Responsible for all safety measures while allocating onboard workers into confined space
• Planning of Excavators, Pay loaders – Berth wise & Vessel Wise 
• Responsible for maintaining berth wise productivity 
• Maintaining vessel's stability by closely coordinating with vessel's Master / Chief Officer 
• Sorting out & Closing stevedoring damages if any with Repairs Contractor & Vessel's Master / Chief Officer 
• Corresponding with Agents regarding Port's requirements.
• Corresponding with Agents regarding Port's requirements.
• Documentation – Recording & Checking Daily Discharge Details, Draught Survey & other Port Documents pertaining to Dry cargo operations. 
• Housekeeping of berths on regular basis
• Co-ordinating with fire team for fire suppression & firefighting as per requirement during loading off thermal coal.
• Coordinating with Back up Yard In-charge for discharge planning & resources planning (Viz. dumpers, payloaders, traffic marshals) & MHS in-charge for HMCs, Truck Loading Hoppers
• Proper utilization of dumpers and equipment to minimize cost/mt for shifting as well as equipment usage
• Proper planning at yard in co-ordination with rake planning to minimize stoppages during vessel discharging. 
• Preventing mixing up of different grades of cargo of same/different customer
• Preventing contamination of cargo with foreign materials in yard as well as during rake loading
• Strategic Branding of Adani Group within and outside the organization amongst the internal / external stakeholders
• Developing Talent / Leadership pipeline within the department
• Ensuring Digital Transformation within the department

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree, Preferable - BE/ B.Tech( Electrical/ Mechanical/ Electronics/Instrumentation) & MBA- Operation 

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 

12+ years in Dry Cargo Stevedoring Operation in Sea Port
