Job description:

· Maintain communication with construction or production teams to ensure that projects are built accurately and reflect the plans and drawings.

· Use advanced technical skills, such as knowledge of construction, engineering, surveying, and design techniques, to create precise drawings and select construction materials.

· Ensure that drawings comply with all relevant building codes, regulations, and standards.

· Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and other building professionals, and work with them to develop project plans.

· Interpret technical specifications and project requirements, conduct site visits, maintain and update project documentation, provide technical support to the engineering team, review and revise drawings, and coordinate with other team members to meet project deadlines.

· Organizes structural and electrical designs.

· Draws plans for foundations, buildings, and structures based on instructions provided by engineers and architects.

· Visits job sites to gatherdata needed to complete designs, etc.

· Allocate time for each task for junior designers, ensuring that work is completed within the allocated time frame.

· Break down design work into task-based assignments to ensure efficiency.

· Explain drawings clearly to subcontractors, site supervisors, and the project team to ensure clarity and understanding.

· Verify that the work done on-site is in accordance with the drawings through direct site visits or by reviewing photos.

· Clarify doubts or questions from clients regarding the design.

· Address and resolve doubts or concerns from the construction team regarding the drawings.

· Oversee the overall management of the drawing team, ensuring smooth operation and adherence to deadlines.

· Verify all final drawings before they are sent to the site; drawings should not be issued without verification.

· Allocate work to junior designers based on their skills and task requirements.

· Guide and support junior designers in their work, providing direction as necessary.

· Train junior designers to improve their skills and foster professional development.

· Provide technical guidance to the design team, offering solutions to challenges and ensuring design quality.

· Analyse the performance of junior designers, preparing performance reports and identifying areas for improvement.

· Ensure that drawings are completed on time and coordinate with the team to meet deadlines.

· Manage the overall workload and ensure the drawing department is working efficiently and effectively.
