The delivery helper assists the main delivery driver with all aspects of the delivery process, from loading the vehicle to completing the final delivery to the customer. This role is crucial for ensuring that goods are delivered accurately, safely, and on time, while providing a positive customer experience. Key responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading: Assist in safely loading and unloading items from the delivery vehicle. Physically demanding tasks, such as lifting packages, are a primary duty.
  • Order accuracy: Verify that the correct items are loaded and delivered by checking against the order form.
  • Delivery assistance: Help the driver navigate routes and provide support at the delivery location.
  • Customer service: Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, answering questions and addressing concerns.
  • Package care: Handle and secure packages properly to prevent damage during transit.
  • Safety and maintenance: Inspect the vehicle for safety issues, ensure the cleanliness of the vehicle, and report any accidents or injuries.
  • Route completion: Work with the driver to complete deliveries within the designated time schedule.

Skills and qualifications

  • Physical ability: Must be able to lift heavy objects repeatedly (often up to lbs).
  • Reliability: Must be punctual and dependable to meet daily schedules.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to interact with customers and the delivery driver.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to think on your feet to resolve issues that may arise during a delivery.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.
  • Attention to detail: Ensures accuracy in order verification and delivery.
