Control Management maintains a strong and consistent control environment through a joint accountability model that aligns managers with each line of business, function, and region to mitigate operational risk. The team focuses on five areas: Risk Identification & Assessment, Control Design & Evaluation, Issue Management, Regulatory Change, and Control Governance & Reporting.
As a Senior Associate within ICB Control Management, you will be part of Compliance and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) Governance team, that supports the CORE program. The CORE Governance team is primarily responsible for oversight and governance of the ICB's CORE framework including Compliance and Operational Risk Assessments. The team works across the sub-lines of business to establish strategic guidance and executional direction to drive consistency and adherence to the Firmwide standards and procedures. This position executes on the initiatives being driven from both our ICB Control Management function, as well as from multiple internal and external control organizations across the firm. An understanding of how to manage in a fast-paced changing environment, how to work within structured decision-making constructs, knowing when to challenge topics/issues/decisions are skills that will ensure success. The ability to build relationships in a collaborative environment is critical – every decision and deliverable is interlinked to other areas not directly within this position's direct line of influence.
Job Responsibilities
This role will report to the ICB CORE Lead for defining and managing strategic initiatives related to the evolving maturity of the Control environment for the business. The role will support the Control Managers to execute the CORE Program in accordance with the CORE Standards, the Firmwide CORE Procedures, any guidance provided by the Central CORE Team, and the oversight from CORE Implementation Lead. The role partners with Control Practices Team in Consumer and Community Banking, Firmwide CORE team and other key resources to lead, define, design, and execute on the integration of multiple key objectives into the control environment. The successful candidate will need to:
- Responsible for the governance and management and execution of compliance and operational risk assessments including Compliance Risk Assessment, Compliance and Operational Risk Summary, Legal Entity Qualitative Risk Appetite and Legal Entity Risk Assessment
- Manage the BAU CORE Program deliverables and assist with the continued implementation of the Firmwide Operational Risk Framework with a focus on data quality to provide ongoing monitoring of the program
- Support the CORE framework implementation as the business expands into new regions and verticals
- Partner effectively with colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, and technology control functions to drive consistent approach
- Participate in projects and requests from stakeholders; support internal meetings by providing status updates, ensure key deliverables are met effectively and on time
- Foster continuous engagement with teams across Central Control Management (Program, Controls Room/Tech, Communications, Training, etc.) to maintain awareness of priorities and status while contributing to the continued enhancement of the Control Management systems and program framework
- Extract, analyze and manipulate data from various sources using Microsoft Excel
- Produce PowerPoint presentations, analysis and supporting materials for key internal clients and management
Required qualifications, capabilities & skills
- Demonstrated experience in conducting and overseeing operational and compliance risk assessments, with a strong understanding of enterprise level risk and control frameworks.
- Ability to perform qualitative assessments, synthesizing complex information to identify key risk drivers, control gaps, and emerging risks
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and industry best practices affecting operational and compliance risk
- Detail oriented, strong organizational, strong analytical and multi-tasking skills
- Strong critical thinking skills with ability to provide actionable resolutions
- Team player with the ability to work productively within a group, with strong collaborative qualities and a positive demeanor
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Bachelors' degree or equivalent preferred
- Experience using any of the following a plus: JIRA, Confluence, Alteryx or Tableau
