Job Description: Coffee Shop Maintenance Technician Position Overview: The Coffee Shop Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all equipment, systems, and facilities in a coffee shop. They play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment for both employees and customers. This position requires a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to prevent potential issues. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect, maintain, and repair coffee machines, grinders, espresso makers, and other coffee shop equipment. This includes ensuring that they are clean, calibrated, and functioning optimally.
  2. Facility Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep the coffee shop's physical infrastructure in good condition. Tasks may include painting, fixing doors, repairing plumbing, and addressing other general maintenance issues.
  3. Electrical and Plumbing Systems: Monitor and maintain the electrical and plumbing systems to ensure they are in good working order. This includes troubleshooting and fixing electrical or plumbing issues promptly.
  4. HVAC and Refrigeration: Ensure that the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems are functioning correctly to maintain a comfortable environment for customers and employees. Also, inspect and service refrigeration units regularly.
  5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers. This includes identifying and addressing potential hazards promptly.
  6. Inventory and Ordering: Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for repairs. Order new parts and supplies as needed to avoid downtime.
  7. Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to reduce the risk of equipment breakdowns and extend their lifespan.
  8. Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections. This includes documenting issues, solutions, and the date of service.
  9. Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and communicate effectively with management regarding maintenance issues and repair timelines.
  10. Training: Train new employees on basic maintenance protocols and safety practices as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician, preferably in a coffee shop or foodservice environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of coffee shop equipment and systems.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools effectively and safely.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy equipment when necessary.
