As a Gemologist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality assurance of gemstones and providing gemological inputs for sourcing purposes.
Your expertise will help take our gem division to the next level by enhancing our formal understanding of gemstones.
Responsibilities: -
? Conduct quality assurance (QA) assessments of gemstones to ensure adherence to standards and specifications.
? Provide gemological inputs and recommendations for sourcing gemstones, considering factors such as quality, rarity, and value.
? Collaborate with the sourcing team to assess gemstone suppliers and ensure the acquisition of high-quality gems.
? Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of gemstone information, including identification characteristics, sources, and certifications.
? Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market values, and gemological advancements to provide accurate and informed guidance.
? Collaborate with the jewelry design and production team, offering expert advice on gemstone selection and placement.
? Train and educate team members on gemological knowledge, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
Preferred Qualifications: -
? Graduate degree in Gemology or a related field. -
? Experience working in a jewelry factory, with a strong understanding of gemstone manufacturing processes. -
? Certification as a Gemologist from an internationally recognized laboratory (e.g., GIA, IGI, etc.) is highly desirable. -
? Solid knowledge of gemstone grading, identification techniques, and industry standards. -
? Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify gemstones based on their physical and optical properties. -
? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess gemstone quality and value accurately. -
? Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide gemological insights.
