Job Description: Assistant Cook

Experience: 1–3 years preferred

Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Assistant Cook to support daily kitchen operations. The ideal candidate should have basic cooking skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to assist the chef in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining kitchen hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the cook/chef in preparing, cutting, marinating, and cooking food items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, utensils, and workstations.
  • Follow recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
  • Support in receiving, storing, and organizing raw materials and supplies.
  • Ensure proper food handling, hygiene, and safety practices at all times.
  • Assist in plating dishes and maintaining consistent presentation.
  • Help with basic kitchen tasks such as washing, cleaning, and arranging ingredients.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the chef.
  • Follow instructions and work well within the kitchen team.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience as a kitchen helper or assistant cook preferred.
  • Basic understanding of cooking methods, food prep, and hygiene.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to learn new cooking techniques and kitchen procedures.
  • Physically fit and able to handle kitchen workload.
