Accounting Manager

ACCOUNTING MANAGER (INDIA)

As the company expands its international footprint and provides Starlink (our revolutionary satellite low-latency broadband internet) across the globe, Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SpaceX is seeking an accounting manager based in India to help ensure our financial reporting obligations are met.  Its mission is to deliver global internet access, and it is ideally suited to support rural and geographically isolated areas where internet connectivity is unreliable or nonexistent.

Based in Bangalore, India, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in defining and scaling the accounting, reporting and statutory compliance activities to support India operations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the financial statement audit process for the India entity and other local entities within the region
• Prepare statutory financial statements for the India entity and other local entities across the region, intercompany accounting, and recording of entries between local entities
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, VAT balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries arising at month end, including retrieval of data from systems for all local entities
• Partner with tax team to record local tax provision, intercompany entries, including, but not limited to, transfer pricing and intercompany interest
• Manage the revenue and receivables process for Starlink India including responsibility for accounting of enterprise agreements under US GAAP and local GAAP; manage the monthly close process to support corporate and local books
• Establish and strengthen policies and procedures, internal financial controls and other related documentation as needed
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce, or other business discipline
• Qualified Chartered Accountant
• 7+ years of accounting or audit experience in public accounting/Big 4, or with a multinational organization, including experience with revenue and financial reporting

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Financial reporting experience under local GAAP, and moderate knowledge of US GAAP
• Experience with the multinational environment
• Detail-oriented, excellent analytical skills, and numerically minded
• Advanced Excel skills
• Intercompany accounting experience 
• VAT/GST experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work with global teams, and ability to be a team player within a small local team
• Ability to work towards multiple tight deadlines
• Ability to embrace change based on business needs, and ability to work in a startup-type environment
• SQL experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• We will be prioritizing local applicants who have the current right to work in India
• This is a 100% onsite position based in our Bangalore, India office. Remote or hybrid work will not be considered
