: Head – DRI Plant (Gas-based, Syngas/Natural Gas)

Location

Qualification
: Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering

Experience
: 20-25 years in Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) operations and projects, with at least

7-8 years in a senior leadership role. Must demonstrate proven expertise in the full project-

to-operations lifecycle.

Role Overview

The Head of Gas-Based DRI Plant will be responsible for the complete lifecycle management

of Greta Energy's Gas-Based DRI facility including the engineering review and project

execution, through erection and commissioning, and finally stabilizing into efficient, world-

class operations. The incumbent must possess strong metallurgical expertise, project

execution, hands-on experience with gas-based reduction technologies (Energiron/Midrex

or equivalent), and the ability to integrate seamlessly with the pellet plant upstream and

steel melt shop downstream.

Key Responsibilities

 Lead technical review of licensor/EPC engineering deliverables (process flow

diagrams, mass & energy balances, plant layout, equipment specs).

 Ensure alignment of plant design with performance, reliability, and integration

requirements.

 Participate in HAZOP, constructability, and operability studies to ensure smooth

commissioning and long-term efficiency.

 Oversee erection, and installation of all critical plant equipment.

 Manage EPC contractors, licensors, and vendors to ensure adherence to cost,

schedule, and quality.

 Drive risk management, progress tracking, and timely resolution of bottlenecks.

 Lead plant commissioning, start-up, and performance guarantee testing.

 Develop and implement SOPs and operational readiness plans.

 Ensure smooth handover from project mode to operations mode, with minimal

disruptions.

 Drive predictive and preventive maintenance for high availability and reliability.

 Lead initiatives for energy reduction, process optimization, and CO₂ intensity

minimization.

 Ensure safety protocols are integrated from engineering to operations.

 Drive a zero-incident culture across all phases.

 Maintain compliance with ISO, BIS, and environmental standards.

People & Leadership

 Build a cross-functional team from the project stage through operations.

 Mentor engineers and operators to ensure knowledge transfer during transition

phases.

 Promote a performance-driven and safety-first organizational culture.

Desired Skills & Competencies

 Preferably Metallurgical Engineering degree with deep understanding of reduction

metallurgy.

 Proven expertise across engineering, project execution, commissioning, and

operations of gas-based DRI plants.

 Strong leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams across the full lifecycle.

 Familiarity with Energiron, Midrex, or equivalent syngas/natural gas DRI

technologies.

 Excellent decision-making, commercial acumen, and stakeholder management.

 Commitment to sustainability and low-carbon steelmaking.
