AGM Production (FRP / Flat Rolled Products)

Job Purpose

To lead and control the Production, Quality and Tool Room operations of the Flat Rolled Products (FRP) division. The role ensures reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective manufacturing of aluminium foils, sheets, coils and alloy-based flat rolled products, while maintaining strict process control, safety compliance, and operational discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Production Management (Primary Responsibility)

  2. Lead end-to-end production operations for FRP (foils, sheets, coils, alloy products).

  3. Drive daily/weekly/monthly production targets with optimal utilisation of machines, manpower, tools and consumables.

  4. Ensure stable rolling, annealing, slitting and finishing operations with zero bottlenecks.

  5. Monitor critical KPIs: throughput, yield %, scrap %, downtime, conversion cost and energy usage.

  6. Ensure smooth flow of material through all production stages.

  7. Quality Management (QC/QA Responsibility)

  8. Ensure products meet dimensional, mechanical, metallurgical and surface quality standards.

  9. Strengthen in-process inspection and end-product quality checks.

  10. Reduce rejections, rework and customer complaints.

  11. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and maintain audit compliance.

  12. Tool Room & Die Management

  13. Oversee Tool Room operations including tooling maintenance, roll shop operations and calibration.

  14. Ensure availability and readiness of tools, rolls, fixtures and gauges.

  15. Improve tool life and reduce tool-related breakdowns.

  16. Implement preventive maintenance schedules for tool assets.

  17. Process Excellence & Efficiency Improvement

  18. Reduce conversion cost through process optimisation.

  19. Implement Lean, Kaizen, 5S, TPM and waste minimization initiatives.

  20. Improve yield, stabilise process parameters and enhance equipment efficiency.

  21. Drive automation or digital adoption where applicable.

  22. Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping

  23. Ensure compliance with safety norms, legal guidelines and environmental standards.

  24. Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, near-miss reporting.

  25. Maintain strong housekeeping (5S) across production and tool room areas.

  26. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  27. Lead production engineers, quality engineers, tool room supervisors, shift in-charges and operators.

  28. Build team capability in process control, equipment operation and quality systems.

  29. Drive a disciplined, performance-oriented culture.

  30. Reporting & Coordination

  31. Provide daily/weekly/monthly MIS on production, quality and tool room performance.

  32. Coordinate with Planning, SCM, Maintenance, HR and Sales teams.

  33. Highlight risks, capacity gaps and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Production or related discipline.

  • 18+ years' experience in Flat rolling or continuous manufacturing.

  • Strong understanding of rolling mills, annealing furnaces, slitting/finishing lines and metallurgical processes.
