Software Tester (Career Re-entry)

Location: Chennai

Experience : 0-3 years

Passed Out Year : Till 2024

Role Overview:

As a Software Tester, you will work closely with developers, product owners, and QA leads to ensure the products we deliver are robust, user-friendly, and bug-free. This role is ideal for someone who has prior testing experience (or training) and is now re-entering the workforce after a break.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review functional and design specifications to understand testing requirements
  • Write, maintain, and execute test cases / test scripts (manual and/or automated)
  • Perform different types of testing (functional, regression, integration, usability, etc.)
  • Identify, log, prioritize, and track defects / issues using defect tools (e.g. JIRA, Bugzilla)
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to reproduce issues and confirm fixes
  • Verify bug fixes and ensure no regressions
  • Prepare test reports, metrics, and documentation
  • Contribute to improving the QA process (test planning, test automation, CI/CD pipeline integrations)
  • Occasionally assist in user acceptance testing (UAT) and support release deployments

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • 0 to 3 years of experience in software testing (may include internship, training, freelancing)
  • Basic knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle)
  • Understanding of manual testing techniques (boundary cases, equivalence partitioning, negative testing, etc.)
  • Good analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication (written and verbal)
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
  • Familiarity (or exposure) with at least one testing tool / framework (for example, Selenium, Postman, Appium, Cypress) or API testing is a plus
  • Any testing / QA certification (ISTQB, etc.) is advantageous

Preferred / Desirable (not mandatory):

  • Experience (or exposure) in automation scripts
  • Basic scripting / programming knowledge (e.g. Python, JavaScript, Java)
  • Understanding of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
  • Experience testing web / mobile / APIs
