Solar Design Manager

Role & responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design and engineering of Solar PV projects (rooftop, ground-mounted, and hybrid systems).
  • Prepare detailed electrical designs, including SLDs, layouts, cable sizing, and protection schemes.
  • Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and shadow analysis to ensure optimal system design.
  • Use design software (AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, SketchUp, etc.) for technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC, IS, and other national/international standards.
  • Prepare BOQ, cost estimation, tender drawings, and DPRs.
  • Coordinate with project, procurement, and O&M teams for smooth project execution.
  • Support in obtaining DISCOM approvals, net metering, and other statutory clearances.
  • Provide technical support to the sales/business development team for proposals.
  • Manage and mentor the design team, ensuring quality and timely deliverables.

Preferred candidate profile

  • B.Tech in Electrical / Power / Renewable Energy Engineering.
  • 710 years of experience in Solar Design & Engineering (rooftop & ground-mounted).
  • Strong knowledge of HT/LT systems, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
  • Hands-on expertise in AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, and related design tools.
  • Familiarity with solar policies, grid regulations, and DISCOM approval processes.
  • Proven experience in preparing technical documentation, BOQ, and project costing.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and client-handling abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team of engineers/designers.
