Role Summary

We're looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer to own our cloud infrastructure and CI/CD. You'll design and automate AWS environments with Terraform, run Kubernetes at scale, and build reliable delivery pipelines with GitHub Actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
    Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform (modules, workspaces, remote state, automated plans/applies).
  • Kubernetes Operations:
    Deploy and operate EKS clusters (node groups, Fargate, autoscaling, upgrades, add-ons), manage namespaces, RBAC, network policies, ingress, and Helm charts.
  • CI/CD with GitHub Actions:
    Create reusable workflows, matrix builds, environment protections, OIDC-based cloud auth, artifact/versioning, and automated deploys to EKS.
  • Observability & Reliability:
    Implement logging/metrics/tracing (CloudWatch/Prometheus/Grafana/OpenTelemetry), SLOs/alerts, runbooks, and incident response.
  • Security & Compliance:
    Enforce least-privilege IAM, secrets management (e.g., AWS Secrets Manager/SSM), container image scanning, SBOM, and policy-as-code (OPA/Conftest).
  • Networking & Performance:
    VPC design, subnets, NAT/IGW, security groups, NACLs, load balancing (ALB/NLB), DNS (Route 53), and cost/perf optimization.
  • Release Management:
    Blue/green/canary strategies, progressive delivery (Argo Rollouts/Flagger optional), and rollback plans.
  • Automation & Tooling:
    Bash/Python/Go scripting, GitOps practices (optional: Argo CD), and internal developer tooling.
  • Collaboration:
    Partner with developers, QA, and security to streamline delivery and improve platform reliability.

Must-Have Skills

  • 3–7+ years in DevOps/SRE/platform roles (or equivalent).
  • Strong AWS: EKS, EC2, IAM, VPC, ELB/ALB, ECR, S3, RDS/Aurora or DynamoDB, CloudWatch, CloudFront.
  • Terraform at scale: module design, state mgmt (S3 + DynamoDB lock), CI-driven plans/applies, drift detection.
  • Kubernetes: Helm, Kustomize, RBAC, HPA/VPA, PodDisruptionBudgets, network policies, secrets, ingress controllers.
  • GitHub Actions: reusable workflows, environments, OIDC to AWS, required checks/protections, monorepo support.
  • Containers: Docker files best practices, image hardening, multi-stage builds, caching.
  • Security: IAM basics to advanced policies, secret rotation, vulnerability scanning (images & deps), CWE/CIS awareness.
  • Solid scripting (Bash) plus one language (Python/Go preferred).

Nice-to-Have

  • GitOps (Argo CD/Flux), service mesh (Istio/Linkerd), Argo Workflows.
  • Policy-as-code (OPA/Gatekeeper), Terraform Cloud/Enterprise.
  • HashiCorp tools (Packer, Vault) and Backstage developer portal.
  • Data plane experience (Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ) or observability stacks (Loki, Tempo).
  • Cost mgmt. with AWS Cost Explorer/Budgets and FinOps practices.

Qualifications

  • Degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant certifications a plus (AWS Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer, CKA/CKAD).
