As we expand into residential, commercial, and grid-balancing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), we are setting up a new battery division to design, validate, and deliver world-class systems.

We are looking for a BMS Integration Engineer to join our core team. This role will be pivotal in ensuring that our Battery Management Systems (BMS) meet functional, safety, and integration requirements across diverse BESS applications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Requirements & Supplier Collaboration

• Define, document, and maintain system-level requirements for BMS functionality, safety, diagnostics, and compliance.
• Work closely with BMS suppliers to evaluate proposed solutions against Turnos requirements.
• Assess supplier manufacturing quality systems, including E&E component sourcing, process traceability, and compliance with relevant standards.
• Review End-of-Line (EoL) and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) setups for BMS validation.

2. Software and Algorithm Development

• Support the development and integration of BMS firmware, embedded software, and control strategies.
• Implement and test key BMS algorithms for SoC, SoH, cell balancing, and thermal management.
• Use simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) for modelling, algorithm development, and validation.

3. Testing, Validation, and Analysis

• Perform system-level testing using HIL and SIL setups to verify BMS functions and performance.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for hardware and software issues identified during testing or in the field.
• Analyse battery performance data to identify issues and propose design improvements.

4. Safety and Compliance

• Lead safety assessments and risk analyses such as DFMEA and HARA to ensure product safety.
• Ensure compliance with functional safety and industry standards, including ISO 26262, UL 9540, and AIS 156.

5. Collaboration and Project Management

• Act as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers and providing support to cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, manufacturing).
• Create detailed documentation, including schematics, design documents, and test reports.
• Support project management activities, including tracking deliverables, validation milestones, and supplier coordination.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years in battery engineering, with significant exposure to BMS and battery pack design and integration.

Technical Skills

• Deep expertise in BMS architecture, hardware, software, and key algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with high-voltage battery systems and related safety practices.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, CANalyzer/CANoe, CAD software.
• Knowledge of communication protocols, including CAN, UDS, and MODBUS.
• Strong background in validation methods (MIL, SIL, PIL, HIL) and embedded systems.
