Business Development Executive/Manager- Freight Forwarding

Key Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Client Acquisition
Identify potential clients (importers/exporters, manufacturers, retailers, etc.)
- Research target markets, industries, and shipping lanes
- Cold calling, attending trade shows, and networking to find leads
Prepare proposals and presentations tailored to clients logistics needs
Customer Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients
- Act as the liaison between clients and internal operations teams
Provide logistics consultation and custom freight solutions
Sales Strategy & Target Achievement
Set sales targets and develop plans to meet them
- Negotiate rates and contracts with customers
Analyze competition and market trends to refine sales tactics
Operational Coordination
Work closely with operations teams to ensure delivery of promised services
- Understand various transport modes (air, sea, road, rail) and how they impact customer needs
Provide quotes, track shipments, and assist in troubleshooting delivery issues when needed
Product & Service Development
Collaborate with internal teams to design new services or improve existing ones
Recommend technology or process improvements based on customer feedback
Market & Industry Analysis
Stay updated on international trade regulations, Incoterms, customs procedures, etc.
- Monitor global trade trends, shipping routes, and freight rates
Suggest new markets or trade lanes for expansion
Reporting & Forecasting
Track KPIs like revenue growth, client retention, conversion rates
- Prepare sales forecasts and monthly/quarterly reports for leadership
Key Skills Needed
- Strong communication & negotiation skills
- Deep knowledge of international logistics & supply chain
- Sales and marketing expertise
- Analytical thinking and market research ability
