A vulnerability analyst, also known as a penetration tester, searches for and exploits security vulnerabilities in webbased applications, systems, and networks. VAPT stands for Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing. It helps organizations identify and fix security weaknesses before attackers can use them. VAPT also helps organizations meet regulatory compliance requirements and protect their reputations. Penetration testing, or pen testing, is a multi-layered security assessment that uses a combination of machine and human-led techniques to identify and exploit vulnerabilities. A penetration test is meant to show how damaging a flaw could be in a real attack rather than find every flaw in a system

  1. Vulnerability Assessment:
    •Conduct regular vulnerability assessments on systems, networks, and applications to identify potential security weaknesses.
    •Utilize automated scanning tools and manual testing techniques to discover and prioritize vulnerabilities.

  2. Penetration Testing:
    •Perform penetration tests to simulate real-world cyber-attacks and identify vulnerabilities that may be exploited by malicious actors.
    •Exploit identified vulnerabilities in a controlled manner to assess the impact on the organization's security.

  3. Reporting:
    •Prepare detailed and clear reports outlining the findings, risks, and recommendations resulting from vulnerability assessments and penetration tests.
    •Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing actionable insights and guidance.

  4. Remediation Support:
    •Collaborate with IT and security teams to develop and implement effective remediation plans for identified vulnerabilities.
    •Provide technical assistance and guidance in addressing security issues. 5. Security Awareness:
    •Stay updated on the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.

  5. Compliance:
    •Ensure that security measures align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
    •Assist in compliance audits and assessments.

  6. Management:
    • Ensure regular updates /presentation is done to senior management on progress of program and also open issues.
