Job Title: CMM Operator

Job Description
The CMM Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to ensure that products meet specified quality standards. The operator will conduct precise measurements of components using CMM equipment, analyze data, and create inspection reports. The CMM Operator collaborates with engineering and quality control teams to troubleshoot measurement issues and implement corrective actions as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CMM for measurement of various components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Perform dimensional inspections on parts and assemblies to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Document measurement results in inspection reports and communicate findings to relevant teams.
  • Maintain CMM equipment by performing routine maintenance and calibration as scheduled.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies or nonconformities in the measurement process.
  • Assist in the development of measurement programs and procedures.
  • Collaborate with production and quality assurance teams to resolve measurement-related issues.

Skills Required

  • Proficient in operating and programming CMM machines.
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in measurements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess measurement data and identify trends.
  • Good communication skills to convey findings effectively.

  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
  • Calipers and micrometers for manual measurements
  • Computer software for CMM programming and data analysis (e.g., PC-DMIS, Verisurf)
  • Inspection tools and gauges (e.g., height gauges, dial indicators)
  • Quality management systems (QMS) for documentation and reporting

The ideal candidate will have a background in manufacturing or engineering, with experience in quality assurance or inspection roles, particularly related to CMM operations. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to quality are essential for success in this position.
