Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Production Planning Manager to lead the planning and scheduling functions within our Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in production control, materials management, and capacity planning, with a deep understanding of the fast-paced, high-mix/low-volume nature of EMS manufacturing.

The Production Planning Manager will ensure efficient use of manufacturing resources to meet customer demand, while minimizing costs and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and optimize the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on demand forecasts, customer orders, and capacity constraints.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to align production plans with customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Lead the production planning team, ensuring accuracy of work orders, timely material availability, and effective capacity utilization.
  • Monitor and control WIP (Work In Progress) levels, ensuring production flow and bottleneck management.
  • Analyze material requirements planning (MRP) output to ensure timely procurement and availability of materials.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and procurement to manage lead times, supplier delivery schedules, and potential shortages.
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning accuracy, production efficiency, and inventory turnover.
  • Implement and maintain KPIs such as OTD (On-Time Delivery), schedule adherence, inventory accuracy, and lead time reduction.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage production schedules and data accuracy.
  • Lead S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) and Capacity Planning processes.
  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) planning, ensuring smooth transitions from prototyping to volume production.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field. Master's degree or APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) is a plus.
  • 8–12 years of experience in production planning or operations within the EMS or electronics manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of PCBA, box build, testing, and final assembly processes.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
  • Solid knowledge of lean manufacturing, kanban, and just-in-time (JIT) concepts.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a high-mix/low-volume environment with frequent changes in demand and priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS 9100, or similar quality standards.
  • Familiarity with customer consigned inventory and forecast management in EMS.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data analysis/reporting tools.
