Role Overview
We are looking for a dynamic Dance Teacher (Classical & Western) who can design and deliver engaging dance sessions for students across Grades K-12. The role involves instruction in Indian classical forms like Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, or Odissi, along with contemporary and Western styles such as Jazz, Hip-hop, Creative Movement, and Fusion.
This role aims to nurture creativity, confidence, and discipline among students while preserving classical heritage and encouraging global dance appreciation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct dance classes in both Classical Indian and Western styles across all grade levels (K-12)
- Develop age-appropriate choreography for school functions, festivals, and cultural events
- Teach fundamentals of movement, expression (abhinaya), posture, rhythm, and coordination
- Encourage cultural exploration and inclusivity through fusion and thematic performances
- Guide and prepare students for inter-school competitions and public showcases
- Collaborate with music, theatre, and academic staff on integrated programs
- Identify and mentor students with special interest or talent in dance
- Maintain records of class attendance, practice logs, and performance readiness
- Ensure discipline and safety in all rehearsals and performances
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree/Diploma/Certified training in Classical Dance and/or Western Dance from a recognized institution
- Minimum 2 years of prior experience teaching school-age children is preferred
- Proficiency in at least one Indian classical and one Western dance style
- Strong classroom and stage management skills
- Creativity, patience, and enthusiasm for arts in education
- Ability to choreograph for solo, duet, and group performances across age groups
