Job Summary:

The Fire Safety Manager will be responsible for implementing, managing, and monitoring fire safety protocols and systems within the commercial property. This role involves ensuring compliance with local fire safety laws, maintaining fire-fighting equipment, conducting safety audits, training personnel, and preparing the property for emergency response. The Fire Safety Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of tenants, visitors, and property assets.

Key Responsibilities:1. Fire Safety Operations and Compliance
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive fire safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
  • Ensure compliance with local fire safety regulations, codes, and building safety standards.
  • Conduct regular fire risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective measures.
  • Liaise with local fire authorities and regulatory agencies for inspections, approvals, and updates on compliance requirements.
2. Equipment Maintenance and Management
  • Oversee the maintenance, testing, and functionality of all fire safety systems, including:
    • Fire alarms
    • Sprinkler systems
    • Fire extinguishers
    • Hydrant systems
    • Smoke detectors
    • Emergency lighting and exit signage
  • Ensure timely repairs, servicing, and replacement of fire safety equipment through third-party vendors or internal teams.
  • Maintain records of all fire equipment maintenance, inspections, and testing activities.
3. Emergency Preparedness and Training
  • Develop emergency evacuation plans and procedures for the property.
  • Conduct fire drills and mock evacuation exercises at regular intervals to ensure tenant and staff preparedness.
  • Train tenants, security teams, housekeeping, and other stakeholders on fire safety protocols, evacuation procedures, and the use of fire-fighting equipment.
  • Ensure that floor wardens and fire marshals are designated, trained, and well-prepared to handle fire emergencies.
4. Incident Management and Reporting
  • Respond to fire emergencies promptly, coordinating with security teams, tenants, and local fire departments.
  • Lead post-incident investigations, document findings, and recommend preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
  • Prepare and submit incident reports, safety audits, and compliance documentation to senior management.
5. Vendor and Contractor Management
  • Manage relationships with fire safety equipment vendors, maintenance contractors, and consultants.
  • Monitor service levels, review contracts, and ensure compliance with SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for equipment servicing and inspections.
  • Coordinate fire safety system upgrades, repairs, and new installations as required.
6. Continuous Improvement
  • Stay updated on fire safety laws, building codes, and industry best practices to ensure continuous compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to fire safety systems, procedures, and infrastructure to enhance safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments (engineering, security, housekeeping) to ensure fire safety is integrated into property operations.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Fire and Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Certifications such as Fire Safety Officer (FSO), NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in fire safety management, preferably in commercial properties, real estate, or large facilities.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of fire safety laws, regulations, and building codes.
    • Expertise in operating and maintaining fire-fighting systems and equipment.
    • Strong incident management, risk assessment, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent training, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Proficiency in preparing reports and managing compliance documentation.
