  1. Design and Planning

Develop electrical system designs, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, communication systems, and grounding.

Prepare single-line diagrams, load calculations, and panel schedules.

Ensure designs comply with local building codes, standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, BS), and safety regulations.

Coordinate with architects, structural, mechanical, and civil engineers to integrate electrical systems.

Perform energy efficiency assessments and recommend sustainable solutions.

  1. Documentation and Specifications

Prepare technical specifications, BOQs (Bills of Quantities), and tender documents.

Review and approve shop drawings and material submittals from contractors.

Ensure equipment selection meets project requirements and design intent.

  1. Installation and Supervision

Oversee on-site electrical installations for wiring, panels, transformers, lighting, and other systems.

Ensure installation quality and compliance with design drawings and safety standards.

Inspect cable routes, earthing, conduits, switchgear, and control systems.

Coordinate with other site engineers to resolve design or installation conflicts.

  1. Testing and Commissioning

Conduct or witness testing and commissioning of all electrical systems.

Verify circuit continuity, insulation resistance, and performance testing.

Prepare commissioning reports and ensure as-built drawings are accurate.

  1. Safety and Compliance

Ensure adherence to electrical safety protocols and permit-to-work systems.

Conduct risk assessments and toolbox talks for electrical activities.

Ensure compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations.

  1. Project Management and Coordination

Participate in progress meetings and provide updates on electrical works.

Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and cost control for electrical scope.

Liaise with utility providers for power supply and approvals.

Manage variation orders and technical clarifications related to electrical systems.

  1. Maintenance and Handover

Prepare operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals.

Train building operators on system usage and safety procedures.

Support final inspection and client handover.
