ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Manager – Operating Accounts (also known as the Finance Manager – Operations or FP&A Manager for Operations) is responsible for overseeing the financial performance and control of goSTOPS' operational units. This role manages the preparation of comprehensive P&L statements, analyse with the operations team to drive profitability and cost efficiency at each property. The Manager – Operating Accounts provides insights to senior management on trends in revenue and expenses, ensuring that financial goals are met and identifying opportunities for improvement. This position plays a critical role in bridging the gap between finance and operations, ensuring accountability and financial discipline in the day-to-day running of the hostels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead the monthly closing and reporting process for operational finances, including finalizing P&L statements for each location and the consolidated corporate P&L. Analyze variances between actual results, budgets, and prior periods to explain the drivers of performance.
  2. Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting during the monthly close process
  3. Continuously monitor and control costs at both the unit and corporate level: review expense reports, identify areas where costs exceed benchmarks or budget, and work with the respective teams to implement corrective actions or cost-saving initiatives.
  4. Provide Support in Financial Year Closing Expense Reports/ Revenue Reports and supporting Invoices
  5. Implement and maintain financial controls for operational activities, such as approval processes for expenditures, to prevent leakages or unauthorized spending at properties.
  6. Month End Closing Process in timely manner like Provisions and Prepaid Expense Booking.
  7. Work closely with the Reconciliation/Accounts Receivable team to ensure revenue reported is complete and accurate, addressing any discrepancies between reported sales, booking system data, and actual cash/bank receipts.
  8. Mentor and manage the Operating Accounts team (financial analysts or assistant managers), delegating tasks appropriately, reviewing their work for accuracy, and fostering their professional development.

QUALIFICATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualification - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business. A professional certification ( B.com /MBA in Finance) is advantageous.

EXPERIENCE,SKILSS AND COMPETENCIES

  1. 6–8 years of finance experience, including at least 3–4 years in a role involving financial planning & analysis, budgeting, or operations finance. Experience in the hospitality or similar service industry is strongly preferred.
  2. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, draw insights, and communicate them clearly to stakeholders at various levels (from property managers to senior executives).
  3. Strong leadership and project management skills – capable of driving the budgeting process, coordinating among multiple teams, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to work closely with cross-functional teams (operations, marketing, etc.) and influence decision-making through data..
  5. Attention to detail combined with a big-picture outlook – able to ensure accuracy in financial reports while also understanding broader business trends and implications
  6. Experience with PMS (Property Management System) data would be useful. Expertise in using accounting software or ERP systems for payables (such as Tally, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics), including setting up workflows and generating AP reports.
  7. High proficiency in MS Excel, including the ability to use advanced functions, pivot tables, and charts to analyze data and create clear reports.
  8. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, especially during month-end or budget cycles, while maintaining accuracy and thoroughness.
  9. Strong grounding in management accounting and financial analysis. Familiarity with hospitality accounting standards (such as the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry) is an added advantage
  10. Proactive, self-motivated attitude with a constant drive to improve existing processes and find innovative solutions to financial challenges.
  11. A must be great team player, fostering collaboration and cooperation within their team and with other departments and within the team to complete the task within deadlines.
