Quantity Surveyor – Construction Projects

Role Summary The Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for managing all aspects of project cost estimation, budgeting, valuation, and cost control throughout the construction lifecycle. The QS ensures that construction projects are completed within the approved budget, with proper cost forecasting, accurate BOQ preparation, and transparent financial reporting.
- Key Responsibilities1. Pre-Construction / Estimation Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ), cost estimates, and rate analysis for all civil, architectural, electrical, and plumbing works.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents for accurate quantity take-offs.
- Support tendering and bid evaluation processes.
- Provide input for budget planning and feasibility studies.
- 2. During ConstructionMonitor and control project costs against budgets and forecasts.
- Verify contractor and vendor bills based on actual work done (measurements).
- Prepare RA bills, variation claims, extra item approvals, and reconciliation statements.
- Track material consumption and compare with BOQ norms.
- Maintain project cost sheets and update the management on cost deviations.
- 3. Post-Construction / Finalization Support preparation of final accounts and closure documents.
- Verify subcontractor claims, change orders, and rate revisions.
- Ensure all cost data and reports are accurate and auditable.
- 4. Coordination & Reporting Work closely with the site engineers, procurement, accounts, and project managers.
- Generate weekly/monthly cost reports, and cash flow projections.
- Participate in site meetings to discuss cost control and value engineering opportunities.
