About the team and this role:
Inkle works with some of the most innovative US startups, helping them stay investor-ready with world-class bookkeeping, accounting, and compliance. As our client base scales, we're expanding our finance services team to go beyond bookkeeping — into deeper financial reporting, compliance oversight, and advisory support.

We're hiring a
Senior Accountant
who can own client accounting end-to-end — from onboarding and monthly close to advanced reporting, compliance, and investor data support. You'll directly partner with US founders, CFOs, and finance leaders, ensuring their accounting is not only accurate but also helps them make smarter, faster decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Client onboarding: Lead financial onboarding for new clients — setting up accounting systems, migrating data, and establishing reporting processes.
• End-to-end accounting ownership: Manage accounting operations for US clients, including monthly/quarterly/yearly close.
• Advanced reconciliations: Handle complex reconciliations (multi-entity, intercompany, payroll, accruals, deferred revenue, etc.).
• Financial reporting: Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
• Investor & board support: Build and deliver financial data for pitch decks, board meetings, and investor updates.
• Compliance oversight: Ensure books are audit- and tax-ready; coordinate with CPAs for filings.
• Process leadership: Design scalable accounting processes, templates, and controls for efficiency and accuracy.
• Team training & mentorship: Coach and guide bookkeepers and junior accountants on best practices, quality standards, and client management.
• Client communication: Act as the primary accounting point of contact for founders/CFOs — proactive, clear, and reliable.
• Tooling: Leverage QuickBooks Online (mandatory), Excel/Google Sheets, and other SaaS/AI tools to drive efficiency.

Who we're looking for:

• Ownership mindset: Comfortable being fully accountable for multiple clients' accounting.
• Detail-obsessed: You thrive on accuracy and take pride in error-free financials.
• Strong technical skills: Solid understanding of US GAAP, accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
• Client-facing communicator: Strong English (written and verbal); confident working directly with US founders, CFOs, and boards.
• Experience: 4–7 years of US accounting experience, ideally serving startups, B2B SaaS, or other high-growth companies.
• Software fluency: QuickBooks Online (mandatory), Excel/Google Sheets, plus familiarity with other accounting/ERP tools.
• Location & hours: Based in Bengaluru; Ability to work 3 pm to 12am - midnight (IST) in-office (work afternoons until late nights) to sync with US time zones.
• Nice to have: Experience with multi-entity accounting, consolidations, cap table/stock option accounting, or SOX compliance.
