Role & responsibilities
Responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on an organization's costs, with the goal of identifying areas for cost reduction and process improvement. They work to ensure financial stability and efficiency by tracking expenses, developing cost standards, and supporting budgeting and forecasting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Analysis and Reporting: Examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting records to prepare financial statements and reports related to costs.
- Cost Control: Identifying areas for cost reduction and process improvement by analyzing cost structures and variances.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the development and maintenance of budgets, forecasting financial performance, and performing variance analysis.
- Standard Costing: Establishing and updating standard costs for products and services based on associated expenses.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring inventory levels and performing periodic stock valuations.
- Collaboration: Working with various departments (e.g., procurement, operations, HR) to provide financial insights and guidance on cost-related matters.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with established accounting standards and internal control procedures.
- Process Improvement: Suggesting changes to procedures and policies to improve cost efficiency and financial performance.
Specific Tasks:
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Conducting audits to ensure the accuracy of cost accounting data.
- Analyzing direct costs (e.g., raw materials, labor) and indirect costs (e.g., overhead).
- Supporting management in strategic pricing decisions.
- Providing cost analysis for new product development.
- Tracking and analyzing cost variances.
- Performing variance analysis to identify areas for improvement.
- Developing and implementing cost accounting systems and processes.
Preferred candidate profile
- Relevant professional certifications CMA) preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in a cost accounting role, particularly within a manufacturing or similar industry.
