Project Manager Pumped Hydro Storage Project

Location: Chichlik, Sonbhadra (UP)

Reporting To: Senior Leadership / Project Director

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience Required: Minimum 15–20 years in hydro/pumped storage project execution, planning, and management

Educational Qualification:

• B.Tech/B.E. in Civil/Mechanical/Mining Engineering (Mandatory)
• Postgraduate qualification in Construction/Project Management (Preferred)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and manage the implementation of a large-scale Pumped Hydro Storage Project. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in planning, executing, and delivering complex hydropower or energy storage infrastructure projects, including tunnel works, reservoirs, powerhouses, and related civil structures. The role involves leadership across technical, contractual, and regulatory domains, ensuring quality, safety, cost-efficiency, and timely completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution

• Develop and implement detailed construction schedules and look-ahead plans.
• Oversee project phases from geotechnical investigation to commissioning.
• Coordinate site execution with engineering, procurement, and execution teams.
• Manage interface of critical paths, civil works, deliveries, and site execution.

Technical Oversight

• Monitor site activities including boreholes, grouting, WPT, SPT, tunneling, and civil works.
• Provide technical guidance in line with standards, specifications, and design requirements.
• Manage risk assessment for ground conditions, slopes, tunneling, and water retention structures.

Team & Stakeholder Management

• Lead multi-disciplinary teams across planning, construction, QA/QC, HSE, and billing.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, local authorities, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Support recruitment, development, and performance evaluation of team members.

Contract & Commercial Management

• Review and administer contracts including variation orders, claims, and change management.
• Collaborate with commercial teams for budgeting, billing, rate analysis, and escalation claims.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and local statutory requirements.

Reporting & Communication

• Prepare and present project progress reports to management, clients, and regulatory bodies.
• Maintain accurate documentation including risk registers, claim logs, and construction diaries.
• Use project management tools such as Primavera/MS Project for planning and reporting.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Extensive experience in hydroelectric or pumped storage project execution.
• Expertise in construction of tunnels, reservoirs, powerhouses, and transmission infrastructure.
• Strong leadership and conflict resolution capabilities.
• Contract management knowledge (EPC/Item rate contracts, FIDIC preferred).
• Proficiency in project management software (Primavera/MS Project).
• Strong analytical and risk mitigation skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management.

Preferred Certifications (Desirable):

• PMP / PRINCE2
• Certification in Primavera P6
• HSE Management Certifications
