Sr Software Engineer-Power BI

Job PurposeJOB DESCRIPTIONA Software Developer I will work in a team environment by providing expert-level support and perform any combination of technical and functional analysis, design, research, programming, testing, deployment, maintenance, periodic enhancement, general computing applications, network operations, development and documenting software's developed. Coordinate and document operational specifications and formulate software requirements. Also, perform various other duties and participate with special projects as needed. This is a team-oriented position with a drive towards creativity and excelling in workmanship of developed product.ResponsibilitiesPower BI DashboardDevelopment and support, Maintain and enhance underlying SQL databases.Plan, Analyze and Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance.Research, Design and develop software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to measure outcome and design consequences.Develop specifications, evaluate performance requirements and resolve customer problems.Analyze information to determine, recommend and plan installation of new system or modification or an existing system.Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.Supports and develops software developers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycleDirect and develop software system testing and procedure validation.Ability to monitor and ensure system operation and specifications conformance.Consult with and advise management and departments regarding project status, proposals and technical issues for software maintenance and design.Perform various other duties, projects and activities as assigned by supervisor or manager within the physical constraints of the jobWork assignments carried out to the highest quality level.Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating andTechnical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.Must understand and comply with all safety rules confidentiality practices and company policies of Weatherford.QualificationsRequired Skills:B.Tech/B.E/MSc in Computer Science, or related IT field required.Minimum 5+ years of experience in Power BI development.Power BI DevelopmentExpert in building interactive dashboards, reports, and paginated reportsStrong in data modeling (star/snowflake schema) and DAX expressionsProficient with Power Query (M language) for data transformationsExperience with Row-Level Security (RLS) and workspace managementPL – 300 Certification – Power BI Data Analyst AssociateData Integration & ETLExperience connecting Power BI with SQL Server, SharePoint, Excel, APIs, and Azure Data sourcesUnderstanding of data refresh strategies, gateways, and schedulingFamiliarity with ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory) for upstream data preparationDatabase SkillsStrong SQL querying and optimization skillsUnderstanding of database design, indexing, and relationshipsKnowledge of stored procedures, views, and performance tuningAdvanced Analytics & VisualizationAbility to apply DAX measures, KPIs, calculated tables, and time intelligence functionsExperience designing executive-level dashboards and KPI scorecardsKnowledge of custom visuals and Power BI themes / brandingPower Platform EcosystemIntegration experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, or TeamsUnderstanding of Power BI Service administration (workspace roles, deployment pipelines)Azure / Cloud ExposureWorking knowledge of Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, Data Lake, or DatabricksUnderstanding of security and governance in Azure environmentsVersion Control & DeploymentFamiliarity with Git / DevOps pipelines for Power BI deploymentExperience in workspace promotion workflows (Dev → UAT → Prod)Performance OptimizationExpertise in report performance tuning, data model compression, and query foldingAbility to troubleshoot slow reports or inefficient DAX measuresPreferred SkillsBusiness Acumen: Ability to translate business requirements into BI solutionsStakeholder Management: Experience of collaborating with cross-functional business teamsDocumentation & Governance: Skilled in preparing technical specs, data dictionaries, and maintaining version controlMentoring Skills: Capable of guiding junior developers and enforcing best practicesTravel Requirement: This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to:
