Job description:

Product Design & Development Oversight

Supervise the end-to-end development of new packaging products from concept to prototype to production.

Review client requirements, market trends, and product briefs to guide design and development.

Ensure packaging solutions meet functionality, aesthetics, cost, and compliance targets

Project Management

Manage multiple product development projects simultaneously.

Define timelines, milestones, and deliverables for each project.

Track progress and coordinate with cross-functional teams (design, production, QC, procurement).

Technical Supervision

Provide technical support in selecting materials, adhesives, finishes, and structures for packaging.

Review CAD designs, dielines, and prototypes for technical feasibility and production compatibility.

Supervise testing of prototypes for performance (e.g., strength, durability, compatibility with filling lines).

Team Coordination

Lead and guide junior product designers, R&D technicians, or packaging engineers.

Assign responsibilities, review work quality, and provide feedback.

Train team members on new materials, technologies, and trends.

Customer & Sales Support

Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to understand client packaging needs.

Attend client meetings or calls to explain product feasibility and development timelines.

Provide samples, prototypes, and technical data sheets for customer approval.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain complete records of product specs, revisions, test reports, and approvals.

Prepare project status reports and present updates to management.

Ensure all product documentation is audit-ready and up to industry standards.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure all new products meet internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO, FSC).

Work with the QA/QC team to troubleshoot issues during trial and production runs.

Innovation & Improvement

Research new packaging technologies, materials, and industry innovations.

Recommend and implement process or product improvements to reduce cost, enhance performance, or increase sustainability.
