Job Summary:

We are seeking a technically skilled and process-oriented Plant Engineer to manage and optimize the operations of our Seed Processing Plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for equipment maintenance, process improvement, installation, and compliance with seed quality standards. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that processed seed meets genetic purity, germination, and packaging specifications.

Educational Qualification:

  • B.E/ B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering, extensive relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience:

  • 810 years of experience in seed processing, Agri-inputs, or food/agro-based manufacturing industries
  • Hands-on experience in seed graders, cleaners, dryers, gravity separators, packing lines, and other mechanical systems used in seed processing plants

Age Limit:

  • Preferably below 40 years

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain seed processing plant machinery, including cleaning, grading, treating, drying, and packaging units.
  • Monitor daily plant operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Execute preventive, breakdown, and routine maintenance of all mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Coordinate with the QA/QC team to ensure that processed seeds meet required quality parameters (germination, purity, moisture, etc.).
  • Optimize processing efficiency and reduce wastage by implementing lean practices and machinery calibration.
  • Ensure safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and industry compliance are strictly followed.
  • Maintain logs, service records, machine performance reports, and processing documentation.
  • Plan and oversee the installation of new equipment and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams for spare parts, utilities, and consumables.
  • Support audits and inspections by certification agencies and internal quality teams.
  • Train and supervise technical operators, plant workers, and contract labor involved in plant operations.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, automation, and controls used in seed/agro-processing
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting plant equipment
  • Familiarity with seed certification standards (ISTA / national guidelines) and plant hygiene
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, machinery log software, and maintenance tracking tools
  • Good team coordination, safety awareness, and documentation abilities.
