POSITION OVERVIEW:We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager - Operations to oversee and enhance the operational aspects of our freight forwarding activities, ensuring smooth handling of air and ocean freight operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing internal and external escalations, negotiating rates and services with airline and ocean carriers, and providing leadership to a team of operations professionals. This is a key leadership position with a focus on driving operational excellence and maintaining strong client relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Handle Department Escalations: Manage and resolve operational escalations, ensuring effective and timely solutions to internal and external issues. Internal & External Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for communication with internal teams and external stakeholders (including clients in the USA) regarding air and ocean freight matters. Negotiation with Carriers: Lead negotiations with airline and ocean carriers, handling rate discussions, service agreements, and resolving service issues effectively.

Team Leadership & Development: Manage, mentor, and develop the operations team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Build strong, effective teams focused on operational excellence and client satisfaction. Operational Strategy & Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and optimize operational processes for air and ocean freight services, ensuring cost-effectiveness, timely delivery, and high service standards.

Analytical & Problem-Solving: Utilize strong analytical skills to identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve efficiency and reduce errors. Client Relationship Management: Work closely with key clients, providing proactive support and resolving any issues related to freight operations, rates, and delivery timelines. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure that all air and ocean freight operations comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.

Oversee accurate documentation for international shipments. QUALIFICATIONS:Educational Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. MBA or a Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Most Important Requirements / Experience:A minimum of 10 years of experience in the US freight forwarding industry, with at least 5 years in a senior operational role. Expertise in air freight forwarding, including carrier negotiations, rate management, and operational problem-solving.

(US Market preferred)Proven experience in handling complex escalations and managing high-pressure situations. Strong communication skills, particularly in handling cross-border communication (USA and international stakeholders). Demonstrated success in leading teams, driving performance, and building effective working relationships across departments and with clients.

Skills:Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Negotiation skills with airline and ocean carriers, understanding of rates, contracts, and service issues. Proficiency in logistics management software (Zoho, etc.) and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and external clients. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Preferred (but not required):HazMat Certification for air and ocean freight operations.
