About the Role:

Ashwamedh Engineers & Consultants, Laboratory Services Division

invites applications for the position of
Head of Department (Biological Testing)
. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading and managing Microbiology and Molecular Biology testing operations, analytical method development, and ensuring compliance with national and international quality standards and regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications:
M.Sc (Microbiology/Molecular Biology), Ph.D (Microbiology/Molecular Microbiology), Food Analyst qualification under FSSAI (preferred)

Experience:
12 to 15 years

Experience in managing accredited testing laboratories (ISO/IEC is essential.

Technical Knowledge Requirements:

  • Microbiological Analysis of Food, Water, Environmental and Pharma samples
  • Molecular Biology Analysis: Pathogens, Genetically Modified Organisms
  • Understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory Management System, Uncertainty Measurement, and Analytical Quality Control (AQC)
  • Method development, validation, verification
  • Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements: NABL, FSSAI, APEDA, EIC, BIS, EU, CODEX, Other Countries

Core Skills:

  • Strong managerial and supervisory capabilities
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Effective leadership, planning, and problem-solving abilities
  • Team-oriented approach with attention to detail and accountability
  • Proficient in English with sound documentation and presentation skills

Preferred Training:

  • Internal Audit as per ISO/IEC 17025
  • Measurement of Uncertainty
  • Verification/Validation of Test Methods
  • Analytical Quality Control (AQC)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the Microbiology and Molecular Biology laboratory
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC NABL), FSSAI, APEDA, EIC BIS and other applicable standards/regulations
  • Review analytical data, test reports, and maintain quality documentation
  • Develop, validate, and verify analytical methods as per standard protocols
  • Train and guide laboratory personnel in analytical and quality practices
