JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Medical Science Specialist would be part of our Nonproprietary division and primarily responsible for the in-depth research and preparation of documentation for nonproprietary nomenclature classification. Additional responsibilities include preparation of regulatory submission documentation to national and international nomenclature authorities (USAN Council and INN Committee). Brand Institute opened an office in India in 2021 with a fully remote workforce. This person must be willing and able to work remotely from India (in IST time zone) alongside a US team who works in the EST time zone.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • INN or generic naming/nomenclature background/experience in the pharma space, either with a pharmaceutical company or regulatory body
  • This background involves knowledge of the principles of nomenclature; submitting proposed names, checking them for conformity with INN principles and global nomenclature, and working with experts from the WHO's INN Expert Group to ensure the name is suitable for healthcare practitioners and the public worldwide
  • In-depth understanding of molecular biology in relation to drug development
  • Experience in medical writing or regulatory compliance writing
  • Knowledge of new developments in the biological science field
  • Ability to research scientific literature and interpret it
  • Should be a creative thinker with sound analytical skills
  • Must be attentive to detail with an ability to organize information, manage tasks and think strategically
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced/deadline-driven team environment but also be able to work independently when needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Must have strong/advanced English proficiency, both verbal and written, especially in the scientific/medical writing language space.

EDUCATION:

  • PhD in one of the following: Molecular biology, chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, biologics or cellular biology.
