Unity Developer for building a Game Prototype
We are seeking a skilled Unity Developer with 3+ years of experience to join the development team for MunchTechnoz a 2.5D platform fighter prototype for Android LAN multiplayer.
The developer will focus on implementing core gameplay mechanics, character logic, and multiplayer features using Unity and Photon Fusion netcode. The role involves collaborating with artists to iterate on character designs, ensuring smooth physics-based interactions in a restricted XY plane, and creating testable prototypes for playtesting.
The ideal candidate has strong C# scripting skills, expertise with Unity's physics system, deep knowledge of Photon Fusion for multiplayer synchronization, and a passion for platform fighters.
Key Responsibilities
Set up the Unity project, version control (e.g., Git), and initial scene structure.
Implement core movement mechanics (jump, double jump, basic walk) restricted to the XY plane using Unity's Rigidbody physics.
Develop camera and camera effects logic for a 2.5D view.
Create the damage and knockback system, including hit detection, stun animations, and KO logic.
Build frameworks for normal, smash, and aerial attacks with placeholder animations and models.
Implement core recovery mechanics, such as ledge grab.
Create a test level for single-player vs. random action AI for playtesting, allowing artists and designers to iterate.
Implement timers and game mode rules (e.g., stock system, win/loss conditions, respawn functionality).
Integrate Photon Fusion for multiplayer syncing of character movements, attacks, and knockouts.
Optimize performance for Android, including mobile resolution, input handling, and resource management.
Participate in QA testing, debugging, and optimization to ensure stable LAN multiplayer.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Experience: 3+ years of Unity development, with at least 2 years working on 2D/2.5D games or physics-based mechanics. Proven experience with platform fighters or action games is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in C# scripting and Unity's core features (e.g., Rigidbody2D, Collider, Animator).
Deep knowledge of Photon Fusion for multiplayer development (e.g., network objects, state authority, lag compensation).
Expertise with Unity's physics system (Rigidbody2D for 2.5D, force application, raycasting for ledge grabs).
Experience with camera systems (e.g., Cinemachine for smooth panning/effects).
Strong understanding of damage/knockback systems (e.g., percentage-based scaling, stun states).
Ability to implement basic AI (e.g., random action AI for testing).
Mobile optimization skills (Android builds, touch input, performance profiling).
Good coding practices (e.g., modular design, error handling, optimization).
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving, ability to iterate based on feedback, collaboration with artists for animation integration.
Tools: Unity , Git for version control, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator for asset integration (optional).
Education: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Game Development, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Unity's Timeline or Animator for effects/animations.
Familiarity with PlayFab or similar backend for multiplayer matchmaking (if expanding beyond LAN).
Knowledge of 2.5D game design (e.g., restricted Z-axis movement).
Previous Android deployment experience.
