Job Title: Assistive Technologies (AT) Trainer

Position Overview:

Saksham Trust is looking for a dedicated Assistive Technology Trainer to join our expanding team in Maharashtra. This role is essential to our mission of empowering persons with visual impairment (PVIs) through technology-based education and training. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality training in assistive technologies, both in-person and remotely, and supporting PVIs in achieving digital independence.

About Saksham:

Saksham Trust is a nationally recognized, award-winning NGO working towards the empowerment of persons with visual impairment. With established centers in Delhi, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, Saksham has now extended its reach to Maharashtra. We also run the Saktek Foundation, a non-profit initiative committed to developing and promoting affordable assistive technology solutions to enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group training sessions on assistive technologies for persons with blindness and low vision.
  • Develop customized training modules and manuals in accessible formats, including in Marathi where necessary.
  • Provide training in:
  • Computer literacy: including use of screen readers like NVDA and JAWS.
  • Mobile accessibility: training on TalkBack, accessible apps, communication tools.
  • Basic hardware handling and troubleshooting.
  • MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet tools.
  • Maintain training records, student case studies, and monthly progress reports.
  • Offer technical support and guidance to users regarding AT usage and system settings.
  • Organize awareness workshops and sensitization sessions in mainstream schools and colleges.
  • Assist with inventory management of AT devices and coordinate with the Head Office for logistical support.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Graduate in any stream from a recognized institution.
  • Diploma/Certificate in Computer Applications or Assistive Technology preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in training persons with visual impairment (preferred).
  • Fluency in Marathi (reading and speaking) is mandatory; proficiency in Hindi and English is desirable.
  • Good communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with 100% blindness or low vision.
