Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced
Senior Solar Design Engineer
to lead the engineering, design, and technical assessment of rooftop and utility-scale solar PV projects. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in solar PV system design, electrical engineering standards, site evaluation, and project coordination. This role involves end-to-end design responsibility from concept to execution, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. System Design & Engineering

  • Develop detailed
    solar PV system designs
    , including DC and AC layouts, string sizing, inverter selection, and protection systems.
  • Prepare
    single-line diagrams (SLD)
    , wiring diagrams, equipment schedules, and BOQ.
  • Conduct
    site assessments
    and shade analysis using tools such as Helioscope, PVSyst, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.
  • Perform
    energy yield simulations
    , performance ratio calculations, and loss estimations.
  • Evaluate and optimize system configurations based on site conditions and client requirements.

2. Technical Documentation

  • Prepare
    technical specifications
    , load calculations, and engineering reports.
  • Create and review
    IFC, tender, and construction drawings
    .
  • Ensure compliance with
    IS/IEC standards
    , local DISCOM regulations, and safety codes.

3. Project Coordination

  • Work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and installers to ensure design feasibility.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and O&M phases.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and authorities for approvals and project clearances.

4. Quality & Compliance

  • Validate all designs for compliance with electrical codes, structural requirements, and safety standards.
  • Ensure adherence to grid interconnection norms and net metering regulations (Tamil Nadu specific when applicable).

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Electrical Engineering
    , Renewable Energy, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum
    5+ years of experience
    in solar PV design, preferably rooftop and utility-scale.
  • Proficiency in
    AutoCAD, PVSyst, Helioscope
    , MS Office, and other design tools.
  • Strong understanding of
    IEC, IS, IEEE
    standards and local electrical codes.
  • Knowledge of
    solar mounting systems
    , structural considerations, and cable sizing.
  • Experience in preparing
    technical proposals, BOQ, and cost estimations
    .
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
