As part of our expansion in India, we are seeking a General Manager – Chennai to build and lead our regional operations. This is a ground up leadership opportunity for a results driven professional ready to establish SEAIR's presence and scale our business in South India.

Role Overview

The Senior General Manager will lead the setup, strategy, and expansion of SEAIR's Chennai operations. This includes building a strong team, driving commercial growth, ensuring operational excellence, and managing the full P&L.

This position requires deep freight forwarding expertise, exceptional leadership, and a strategic mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Business Leadership & Expansion

  • Develop and execute growth strategy for South India market.
  • Build SEAIR's Chennai branch structure, team, and performance culture.
  • Identify and onboard new customers and channel partners to meet set targets.

Operations & Process Excellence

  • Oversee air, ocean, and customs forwarding operations.
  • Implement digital tools (ERP, CRM, WMS) for process visibility and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with customs, safety, and trade regulations.

Sales & Commercial Management

  • Drive revenue and margin growth through new business and account development.
  • Negotiate contracts with carriers, airlines, and logistics vendors.
  • Deliver customer focused solutions that drive retention and profitability.

Financial & People Management

  • Own the P&L and deliver on financial performance goals.
  • Hire, mentor, and motivate a cross functional team.
  • Establish KPIs and reward structures for accountability and results.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management

MBA or industry certifications preferred

10+ years of freight forwarding/logistics experience (3+ in senior leadership)

Strong network with shipping lines, airlines, and logistics partners

Fluent in English, Hindi and Tamil

Willingness to travel regionally and internationally
