A leading retail and supermarket group in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is hiring an experienced and result-oriented Finance Manager to oversee all financial activities of its retail operations. The ideal candidate must have 8–12 years of relevant experience in financial management within the retail, supermarket, or FMCG sectors. Job Summary:

The Finance Manager for Retail/Supermarket will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of the business, ensuring profitability, cost control, and operational efficiency. This role requires hands-on experience in retail financial management, inventory control, budgeting, and financial analysis to support key business decisions and ensure financial health across all store locations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and present timely and accurate financial statements including Profit & Loss (P&L), balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Analyze financial performance, including sales, margins, and operating costs; identify trends or anomalies.

  • Provide strategic financial insights and actionable recommendations to senior management to boost profitability and operational efficiency.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes for all retail locations.

  • Align financial planning with the company's strategic goals.

  • Monitor performance vs. budget, and provide detailed variance analyses with corrective action plans.

3. Inventory & Cost Control

  • Oversee inventory accounting and implement cost control measures to prevent shrinkage, theft, and damage.

  • Ensure stock optimization and work with procurement and operations for cost-effective purchasing strategies.

  • Conduct periodic stock audits and reconcile discrepancies.

4. Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor daily cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for business operations.

  • Optimize payment cycles with vendors and suppliers.

  • Develop and implement systems for efficient collections and payment disbursements.

5. Financial Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory requirements, and internal policies.

  • Oversee tax return preparation and timely submissions.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks including credit, fraud, pricing, and operational inefficiencies.

6. Profitability & Performance Metrics

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as gross margins, stock turnover, and sales per square foot.

  • Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer behavior to support revenue growth strategies.

  • Recommend pricing strategies to maintain competitiveness and improve profit margins.

7. Internal Controls & Audit

  • Implement robust internal financial controls and standard operating procedures.

  • Coordinate internal and external audits; ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve accounting systems and processes.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: 8–12 years of relevant experience in finance/accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity within retail/supermarket/FMCG domains.

  • Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) / MBA Finance / CMA or equivalent financial qualification preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of retail accounting practices, cost control, and tax compliance

    • Advanced MS Excel, ERP systems (e.g., Tally, SAP, Oracle)

    • Analytical, detail-oriented, with leadership and team management skills
