About the Role: IndiaLaw LLP is seeking a dedicated and skilled Criminal Litigation Associate to join our Mumbai office.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in handling criminal matters, particularly proceedings under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, and a strong understanding of procedural and substantive criminal law.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently handle litigation under Section 138 of the NI Act, including drafting complaints, notices, and pleadings
- Represent clients before Magistrate Courts, Sessions Courts, and other relevant forums
- Conduct legal research and prepare case strategies for criminal matters
- Draft and review legal documents including bail applications, criminal complaints, and replies
- Coordinate with clients, counsel, and internal teams for case updates and hearings
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure timely filings and appearances
- Assist senior advocates in complex criminal litigation matters as required
Required Qualifications
- LLB from a recognized university
- Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in criminal litigation
- Proven track record in handling Section 138 NI Act cases
- Strong knowledge of CrPC, IPC, Evidence Act, and other relevant statutes
- Excellent drafting, research, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently
