General Manager (Operations)

Position Title: General Manager – Operations

Reports To: Managing Director & CEO

Location: Pune

Department: Project Management

Role Overview

The General Manager – Operations will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations of all active

projects handled by the company. The role requires ensuring that project delivery is on schedule,

within budget, and aligned with quality and safety standards. The position involves regular site visits,

audits, and close monitoring of project teams, while also serving as the escalation point for client

issues. The GM–Operations will report directly to the MD & CEO and play a key role in organizational

growth and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:-

Project Operations & Delivery

• Oversee daily operations of multiple projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets,

quality, and safety.

• Conduct site visits and audits to monitor progress and compliance.

• Manage project risks, implementing mitigation strategies proactively.

• Drive accountability for project milestones and deliverables.

Stakeholder & Client Management

• Act as the escalation point for client queries and concerns.

• Maintain strong communication and build trusted relationships with clients, consultants, and

contractors.

• Ensure timely project updates and transparent reporting.

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead, mentor, and motivate project managers and site teams.

• Optimize resource allocation across projects for maximum efficiency.

• Conduct performance reviews and ensure continuous development of team members.

Governance, Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, contracts, and company policies.

• Implement quality assurance and health & safety management systems across projects.

• Provide regular reports to the MD & CEO on project performance, risks, and operational

challenges.

Track and analyze key KPIs (time, cost, safety, quality, client satisfaction).

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management (Master's preferred).

• 15+ years of experience in project management & operations, with 5+ years in a senior

leadership role.

• Proven track record of delivering projects within cost, time, and quality benchmarks.

• Strong knowledge of planning, cost control, contracts, quality, and safety standards.

• Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, ERP systems).

• Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

Key Requirements

• Experience: 12-16 years of experience in the real estate or construction industry, with a proven track record of managing large-scale projects and teams.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A MBA or master's degree in a relevant discipline is advantageous.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams towards achieving common goals and overcoming challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
• Experience in both institutional and residential real estate projects.
