The Opportunity

We are an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants, and technical specialists offering a wide range of professional services aimed at making a positive difference in the world.

The role is a key position within the Building Services Team, responsible for:

  • Lead the design of Public Health and Fire Protection Systems for high-end and complex buildings, from concept through IFC stage.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure seamless integration of public health systems.
  • Review and verify public health design work completed locally and remotely to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Collaborate with Arup Group offices in the Middle East and India, ensuring compliance with regional regulations and representing Arup to clients and stakeholders when required.
  • Develop complete design packages, including drawings, schematics, calculations, schedules, and reports.
  • Contribute as a key member of the PHE team to deliver high-quality, efficient, and sustainable public health designs.
  • Liaise with local authorities/AOR to secure project approvals and ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support for obtaining local authority approvals on all projects, whether designed locally or remotely.
  • Integrate health and safety principles into all design and delivery processes in line with Arup policies.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of interdisciplinary coordination to support integrated project delivery.

If this role right for you?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • BEng/BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent degree, with a minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working on projects in the Middle East, particularly in the UAE and KSA, either in-country or from a remote design office.

  • Passionate about implementing automation in design and delivery within a BIM environment.

  • Highly motivated and willing to tackle new challenges.

  • Experienced in hot/cold water, drainage, rainwater disposal, fire protection, gas system design to British/American and local codes/standards

  • Knowledge of British Standards, ASHRAE, UPC, CIBSE, NFPA, UAE & KSA codes and local regulations.

  • Familiarity with LEED-certified projects.

  • Membership in a relevant professional body is required and chartered Engineer status is an advantage.
