Position: Head of Design

Location: Lower Parel, Mumbai

Experience Required: Minimum 10+ years in a comparable brand or design leadership role

Reporting to: Creative Director / Founder

Role Overview:

As Head of Design at Style Junkie, you will lead our design function end-to-end from concept to production anchoring both creative vision and technical excellence. You will set and uphold the aesthetic direction of the brand, mentor and grow the design team, and ensure our collections reflect our identity and market promise.

Key Responsibilities:


• Define and execute the brand's design strategy, ensuring each collection aligns with the Style Junkie aesthetic and business goals.


• Lead the design team: recruit, mentor, manage seniors and juniors, establish workflows and processes that elevate output and efficiency.


• Maintain deep technical oversight across textiles, fabrics, surface embellishments, pattern & drape execution, and garment construction.


• Collaborate closely with production, sourcing, merchandising and marketing teams to ensure design integrity, quality, timelines and cost-effectiveness throughout sample and production phases.


• Oversee trend research, material innovation, fabric innovation and textile story telling to elevate the brand's design currency.


• Ensure consistent design language and high-quality execution across all product categories, ensuring every piece meets the brand's standard and consumer expectation.


• Balance creative leadership with operational discipline: budget, timelines, resource planning and quality metrics fall under your purview.


• Be the guardian of the brand's creative DNA, always elevating while staying grounded in achievability and market relevance.

What We're Looking For:


• 10 years of experience in a design leadership position within a similar or same-tier brand (a must)


• Exceptional mastery of textiles: deep knowledge of fabrics, surface treatments, trims, finishes and textile innovation is mandatory


• Proven track record in pattern making, draping and full garment development, not just concept sketches but, you understand the technical execution intimately


• Strong leadership skills: you've built and managed design teams, you know how to develop talent and drive high-performance culture


• Strategic thinker with commercial awareness: you understand how design impacts business outcomes and you can translate vision into collection timelines and budgets


• Excellent communication, collaboration and cross-functional influence: you'll partner with production, sourcing, merchandising, marketing and retail teams


• A passionate guardian of aesthetics, with proven ability to innovate while staying true to brand DNA


• Portfolio and career achievements that demonstrate both creative excellence and technical craftsmanship
