The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.

In this role, you will directly contribute to ___.

• Support the full life cycle of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems from concept to productization including conceptualization, designing, CAD modeling, development, and test/validation.
• Collaborate with both internal and external CFT to ensure the product design meets its objectives, validate the design through performance testing & obtain approvals by following Product Development & Release (PDR) process
• Conceptualization, modeling, analysis, development, documentation, & test/validation of hardware designs associated with new semiconductor equipment
• Designs parts using metals, plastics and advanced coatings/plating's. Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives
• Application knowledge: hands-on experience on any CAD (NX is preferred) with design, drawing, drawing standards & GD&T
• Hands on experience to take design from concepts (OEM components, sheet metal, metal (machined & weld assembly), plastics & ceramics would be a big plus), detail engg (Tolerance analysis, dFMEA, DFMA, Test plan), Testing, etc. & through detailed drawing, parts procurement, DFM interaction with suppliers, assembly, test, build verification, fieldd/customer qualification with deeper understanding of issues faced, lessons learned and closure
• Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Conduct detailed analysis including structural, finite element analysis (FEA), thermal, stress and manufacturability to properly specify designs
• Develop and conduct feasibility studies and test plans to characterize and validate design performance
• Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure solutions can be manufactured with high-quality, cost-optimized, and to requirements.
• Provide key deliverables including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), technical specifications, risk analysis, test specifications, and design review presentations
• Provide immediate response & timely resolution to escalations & design related production issues encountered during the pilot as well as HVM build process
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 7+ years of experience.
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
• Highly proficient in 3D CAD tools such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo and others.
• Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.

• Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Experience in project management, managing projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
