Lead I&C Process Commissioning Engineer

As a Lead I&C commissioning specialist, you shall be responsible for :

• Cold and hot commissioning activities for STG field instrumentations, TGC for STG control system in a power plant in a safe manner, according to the quality rules in force on the project and the project schedule.
• Responsible for the preparation and execution of the I&C commissioning, trial run, acceptance testing and inspection/measurements within his/her scope of work as defined by Engineering.
• In depth knowledge of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities of STG I&C systems

Roles and Responsibilities

• To perform all I&C Commissioning activities – cold and hot – related to field instrumentations, TGC for STG Control system in accordance with OEM engineering & safety guidelines and Quality procedure, with address to all statutory regulations and environmental protection measures in place.
• Study, review and correct logic and hardware documentation (SAMA, PFUPs, Wiring Diagrams etc)
• Implement modification using engineering tools (Controcad)
• Loop checks
• Instrumentation setting and testing (Hart, protocol, …)
• Perform elementary tests, then functional and sequence tests
• Tune and monitor both closed and open loop functions
• Coordinate with DCS for comprehensive tests
• Troubleshooting both hardware and software problems/incidents
• Fill in test sheets and ITPLs and create reports
• Familiar with P320, and other industrial advanced control systems, PLC's, DCSs, etc
• Knowledge in all instruments disciplines including Digital/Analogue Electronics, pneumatics, Hydraulics, and process control, pressure, Temperature, Flow and level.
• Conducting tests and repairs on plant instrumentation and control systems.
• Provide technical supports to Mechanical Process Commissioning engineer
• Complete I/O Checks, instrument configuration and required documentation for project
• Commission and trouble shoot conventional IO, Hart and fieldbus Instruments loops.
• Develop instrument indexes and IO Point assignments
• Reporting of deviations from the agreed goals and further initiating corrective measures in technical support with Engineering.
• Manage, perform, coordinate, and monitor the commissioning of the specified systems.

• Developing I&C instruments commissioning schedule for cold & hot commissioning, prepare commissioning Inspection & Test plans for instruments, testing procedures, protocols, and reports.

• Raising ER Case for Remote Engineering Support in handling technical problems related to I&C commissioning and its timely resolution to meet Unit commissioning deadline as per defined outage schedule.

• Connecting Remote Outage Support Team during cold & hot commissioning of the unit for any prompt resolution of I&C commissioning issues.
• Ensuring the commissioning, operation, quality record and feedback documentation are issued.
• Ensuring that technical deviations are reported with a corresponding non-conformance report (NCR) and that the same are followed up until their completion.
• Keep a diary to record daily work, occurrences, problems, special information, etc. plus a list of pending items.
• Maintain logbooks to record I&C commissioning and operational events as specified in the work instructions.
• Support and train other I&C Commissioning Engineers assigned to him/her.
• Participate in site outage meetings organised by Site lead.
• Train the customer staff in operation and maintenance as per contractual obligations.
• Organise the return of I&C commissioning test equipment as soon as possible by arrangement with the Outage Manager.
• Prepare I&C Commissioning outage report & share with outage manager & Site Lead for compilation.
• Provide technical experience feedback_Lesson Learnt during Outage close-out in accordance with outage End to End Process.

Required Qualifications

• University degree/Diploma in engineering related field to meet profile responsibility.
• Having atleast 8+ years of relevant experience in Power / Energy industry for position of Lead I&C Commissioning engineer-STG, I&C commissioning skills on legacy Alstom fleets would be preferred.

• Technical Skills:

• Should have sound fundamentals and knowledge on Steam turbine technologies with operational aspects of various fleets of Own technology as well as OOEMs.

• Rich exposure to STG I&C commissioning skills mainly on large Steam turbines of 100 MW and above.
• Installation and calibration/setting of I&C instruments including TSI instruments.
• Sound exposure to Constructional features with a view to manage & lead commissioning planning & manage successful commissioning support.
• I&C Analytical skills to organize troubleshooting of various operational problems of Steam Turbine in support with Remote Outage support Team / ST Product services team and subsequently advise on short term as well as long term remedial actions.
• Good Communication as well as Writing skills to interact with internal & external customers.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (MS word/MS excel/MS Power Point) etc
• Sound understanding of time/cost control for assigned I&C outage commissioning related site activities of Steam Turbine Overhaul /upgrade/retrofit installation and successful execution within assigned time & cost estimates.
• Knowledge on scheduling packages such as MS Project / Primavera shall be preferred.
• I&C commissioning exposure on GE controls (ALPSA P320 TGC etc) shall be preferred.
