Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

Accounting & Reporting

  • Deliver all accounting processes (GL, banking, fixed assets) in line with timetable requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations monthly, with variances identified and explained.
  • Provide proactive communication to stakeholders on accounting deliverables.
  • Support statutory compliance filings and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Assist in audit processes (half-year and year-end).

Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain accounting governance within Target, ensuring adherence to policies, SOPs, and controls.
  • Partner with Finance Manager (FAM) to implement simplification and automation initiatives.
  • Ensure reconciliations, variances, and action items are completed and reviewed on time.

People Management

  • Lead and manage a team of 4 direct reports (Finance Executives).
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities for team members.
  • Build an effective team culture aligned with values.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with Finance teams on process delivery and stakeholder requirements.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, consultants, and statutory authorities.

Key Challenges

  • Ensuring governance and compliance in all financial decisions.
  • Driving standardization of accounting processes and maintaining updated SOPs.
  • Balancing accuracy, stakeholder management, and tight timelines.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Finance/Accounting (Honours); CA/CPA preferred (completed or in progress).
  • Experience: 6-9 years in financial accounting with team leadership exposure.
  • Industry: Retail industry experience desirable.
  • Technical: SAP S4Hana finance module experience preferred; RTR experience desirable.
